The Cartoonist Club Of England.

People often ask me how they can get ahead in the highly competitive world of professional cartooning. Well, I have for some time being involved in the excellent CARTOON CLUB OF ENGLAND Which was established in February 2010 to help and support cartoonists, both amatuer and professional. It's a fun club (unlike some others that are stuffy and insist that you have some artistic capability). Even if you can't draw for toffee Then you are still welcome to join. The only joining requirement is the paying of the annual subscription of £20. For this, you get the right to display this splendid logo on your blog or website, regular FREE email newsletters, a twice yearly contest to win some Argos Vouchers (value depending on how many members we get) and of course advice and assistance to promote your work on this website.

Think of it as a bit like Rolfs Cartoon Club, but without the Austrailian. We will not allow Austrailians to ruin this club!

  1. What about Scotsmen and Scotswomen? Do you get a tutorial in how to adorn your text with different sized fonts? I think you should include that if you don't. I think it would be a great draw (see what I did there?).

  2. Nope, sorry. It's England's Cartoonists only. I couldn't create a Cartoon Club Of Britain, as that names already been taken by a firm of building merchants, or something.

  3. You could call it Cartoonist Club of England and Bits of Scotland. That would stem the cries of racism and the flow of woad. I'm not too fussed about the Welsh. They can look after themselves, and besides, they have Dame Shirley Bassey and Lord Tom Jones.

  4. Leonard - I've just had this great idea! Why don't you have as a prize in your twice yearly contest - rather than Argos vouchers - a voucher for £20.00 which the lucky winner could have to spend on YOUR CARTOONS!!!

Well, that's the best idea I've come up with today for sure. Beats the idea I had for that cartoon about the tree roots.

  5. That's a great idea Cathy and it's sure to stem the woad rage that Mr Bright is predicting.

  8. CCEABOSETW - very catchy, and an anagram of WEB ACE SCOT... or BE A COW SECT. £20 is straining to escape my wallet. Will women be allowed to join?

"Woad Rage" is very clever, Poobah. Could be used by a decent cartoonist, if we could only find one.
