Instructions for hands.

I'm often asked how do I draw hands when I'm drawing my cartoons. Well, here is the first of many tutorials on drawing hands. We'll start with a 'grabbing' hand, or 'clutching' hand, which can be very important when drawing talent free cartoons such as thus:

Hairy wrists are entirely optional, and probably not appropriate if you are drawing a cartoon of a grasping woman, for instance.

  1. There you go Cathy. I went first, and found it most satisfying as it happens. I haven't stopped there. There are 2 more handy tutorials like this schedualed to appear within the next week or so.

  2. Excellent tutorial, Leornad!

You might also mention that a clever little trick is to trace the hand and then flip your tracing over and rub it vigorously with your thumbnail to get the mirror image, and thusly, the opposing hand. All you have to do then is to draw a body between the two images. Et Viola!

  3. Leonard, despite your hints, I still can't draw cartoon hands. Mine look like Jerusalem Artichokes. I need more instructions, clearly.
